Vegetal Silica Vegetable Capsules are one of Solgar’s premium quality botanicals. Silica food supplements are most commonly used to improve skin, nail and hair health, and this is because it forms a key component of collagen. However, it is also really important for bone health because, like vitamin D, it helps the body to utilise calcium.
Solgar’s Vegetal Silica comes from Horsetail powder, this natural source of silica means that it is really easy to digest and absorb. It’s also suitable for both vegetarians and vegans and is Kosher.
Whatever our age, we all need silica. It is vital for healthy skin, fingernails, ligaments, tendons and bones and is regarded as one of nature’s building blocks providing the answer to healthier, younger looking, more radiant skin, hair, nails and especially helping good bone health. Silica is found in nerves, bones, muscles and connective tissues, including those within the brain and nervous system. This nutrient may help to keep skin healthy and fight the effects of ageing, while also helping to keep hair and nails strong. This full potency formula is also used to maintain bone and joint health. Silica extract may help to repair joint cartilage, damaged ligaments and tendons.
I believe in an inside and outside approach to health and beauty and I created this treatment combination to see if I could achieve the ‘impossible’ – healing splits in my nails due to matrix damage. I have a thumb nail where the split starts over the nail bed, which is proving harder to heal than the other 3 nails.
Starting in Nov 2017 I have taken Natures Aid Hair Skin & Nails supplement for 6 months and applied Nailtiques Protein Formula 3, silk and cuticle oil to the nail area. 6 months have passed (roughly the time it takes for the nail to form and grow down) no significant change to the nail so, as of the beginning of May 2018, I have added in other supporting nutritional supplements to try to get this last nail to heal – Solgar’s Vegetal Silica and Viridian Beauty Oil. At the end of May I also added in 1 teaspoon of Agar flakes, sprinkled onto my porridge before heating. I have also made changes to what I have been applying to the nail area (see blog).
The minute I have results I will post them, right now its a waiting game whilst these supplements get to work internally. Caring for and protecting hands and nails takes time and a little and often approach, nothing happens overnight.
Vegetal Silica is good for strengthening bones, nails and skin. Silica helps glue the connective tissues that holds hair together, preventing split ends. Silica beautifies hair with luster, elasticity and vigor. Silica is found abundantly in the hair, skin, nails, the aorta, connective tissue and throughout the skeletal structure. As a person grows older, Silica in the body diminishes. Many parts of the body suffer from the lack of Silica supply, especially the skin and hair. Wrinkles, dry skin and hair are common effects. Since the skin and hair are the first affected by lack of Silica in the body, they are also the first to benefit from taking Silica.
Moisture and skin elasticity are two important factors in keeping the skin looking young which can be maintained when taking Vegetal Silica. The nails can also benefit from taking Vegetal Silica, because the mineral protects the nails from getting brittle and easily damaged.
Vegan, Vegetarian and Kosher.
